Brunch in lockdown was, admittedly, a pretty sad affair. But with a roadmap out of lockdown now unveiled, brunch will be making an overdue resurgence as the social event of the spring – albeit outdoors to start with. Luckily, the good folks at Bar Elba will be putting their gorgeous rooftop to good use, and running an actual real-life brunch every Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer! It launches on April 17 (the week that England is poised to move into Step 2 of lockdown easing plans), and will celebrate the return to outdoor dining in style.
The novelty of returning to a) rooftops and b) brunches aside, Bar Elba will be doing everything possible to keep revellers safe and healthy in a time of coronavirus. The social distancing rules are being followed at all times, tables will be wiped down and disinfected after every seating, and hand sanitiser will be freely available for all guests. Plus, rooftops aren’t just one of the coolest places to be this spring and summer, they’re also one of the safest outdoor spots – so bring the suncream and get ready to brunch like you haven’t in months!
The Bar Elba Brunch Fest takes the form of a BBQ brunch with either one or two hours of bottomless bubbles and beer, which should make up for all those missed barbecues earlier in the year. Guests can tuck into the Cheeky Cheese burger, the Cluck You chicken burger, the Pig Mac (filled with BBQ pulled pork), or the Moving Mountains vegan burger. Honestly, I want all of them…
To kickstart a brilliant summer of fun, Bar Elba are promising “bucket-loads of glitter, endless summer vibes, and banging views”. And really, I can’t think of a better way to forget about months of lockdown than that!
